Help shape how we support your sponsored research, patenting, licensing and entrepreneurial activities.
The Office of the Vice President Research and Innovation invites members of UBC’s research community to participate in a consultation around services provided through Innovation UBC. Your feedback will help inform plans to enhance the support and services available to translate research activities, outputs and discoveries into positive economic, environmental, health and social benefits.
UBC is committed to fostering a vibrant culture of innovation and is building on an impressive track record — including the creation of over 250 spin-off companies, entrepreneurial education, more than 500 active licensing agreements, and extensive sponsored research partnerships with industry, government and non-profit organizations. To build on this success by providing a more coordinated and integrated delivery of support services to our researchers and external partners, we are reorganizing the University-Industry Liaison Office and entrepreneurship@UBC to ensure closer operational alignment.
As a first step in this process, we are undertaking a consultation process aimed to enhance the support for sponsored research, technology transfer (patenting and licensing) and entrepreneurship. Discussion topics will include:
- how we can best focus our services to support the activities and needs of UBC researchers;
- how Innovation UBC can help you overcome obstacles in engaging with industry, government and not-for-profits;
- how you would like to learn about opportunities relating to sponsored research, technology transfer and entrepreneurship; and
- how the success of Innovation UBC will be measured.
