UBC researchers partner with industry, government and non-profit organizations on many collaborations with contractual terms and project deliverables.
Each year the UILO creates over 1,300 collaborations between its researchers and industry partners. In addition, researchers at UBC and its affiliated hospitals engage in approximately 1,200 government and non-profit research contracts and agreements annually.
The expanding concept of industry engagement builds on UBC’s current research partnership activities and develops new and innovative ways for UBC to share its research expertise, capacity and infrastructure with industry partners to further improve Canada's innovation performance
How to engage with UBC researchers
In all research relationships, the first step is a “meeting of the minds” as to the nature of the research project between a UBC researcher, and a third party. Once this is achieved, UILO will participate in creating whatever documents are necessary to formalize the partnership. The following instructions list the steps that our research partners should follow to make the process as quick and easy as possible.
- Identify Principal Investigator who can address your need
- Develop research proposal and budget with PI
UILO will contact you to discuss preparation of the appropriate contract, if required, after it has received all required information from the PI.
